Art Deco buildings in Frinton on sea
During the 1920’s architect Oliver Hill planned to develop a luxury Victorian and art deco building
estate, involving a prospective 100 room cliff top hotel, cinema, colleges, churches and houses all depicting the elegant Art Deco Designs
of the Twenties. Sadly lack of funding or demand for these way out designs called a halt to the development, the outbreak of war in 1939
ended Oliver Hills vision, resulting in the company going bankrupt.
The completely round ‘Estate Office’ remains today with a impressive mosaic floor showing the plans of the intended estate.The
dozen Art Deco houses continue to be lived in to this day, and are a good resaon to visit Frinton-on Sea with a reputation
as an exclusive resort, Frinton retains an atmosphere of the 1920s and 30s
