The Clacton-on-Sea Co-Operative Band is a traditional Brass Band based in Clacton, Essex, England. Formed in 1948 the Band is a well
established organisation and over the years has earned the reputation of being a fine concert and contesting Band.
Many prizes have been won in competitions including in 1977, the title of 2nd Section Champion Band of Great Britain. Until 2003 the Band was
a firmly established Championship Band - twenty odd years at this level was a great achievement. After two successful years in the First
Section 2004-2005 the Band is once again in the Championship Section nationally and maintaining a high standard of playing. In the 70's and 80's
the Band were broadcast on numerous occasions by the BBC in many popular broadcasts such as Listen to the Band, Friday Night is Music Night,
Bandstand and Among Your Souvenirs and also appeared on BBC TV's Best of Brass series. The Band's members travel from Essex, Suffolk and
Bedfordshire to play with the Band. Most concerts are given in and around Clacton-on-Sea and a series of Summer Concerts are given in the town's
Princes Theatre. We have travelled extensively in Europe including trips to France, Belgium, Germany and Hungary and more frequently to
Winschoten, Holland to perform with the Nieuw Leven Band.
The Clacton-on-Sea Co-Operative Band are always looking to play at new venues so if you would like to book the band please make enquires.
The Clacton-on-Sea Co-Operative Band Sponsors, the East of England Co-Operative Society, generously support the band in our various activities
and have done so since 1978, which is obviously very much appreciated.
The Supporter's Club help in the organisation of fund raising events activities and over many years have made a valuable and vital
contribution to Band's operating expenses.
There is also a Friends of the Band scheme that entitles members to 10% discount on admission, souvenirs and a newletter. Membership fee
£7.50.
Concert conducted by the amusing Robert Nunnery, held on 1st July and featured Andrew Robley, who was brilliant. Andrew comes to Clacton
every year to perform this concert with the band and is attended by Andrew's surporters from around the country. I purchased Andrew's new CD of
