Clacton-on-sea Railway Station

The station is the terminus of the Clacton branch which diverges from the Great Eastern Main Line at Colchester. There is a frequent train
service between Clacton and London Liverpool Street.
The station itself has a sizeable concourse sheltered by a glazed roof. There is a traction depot just outside the station, with some stabling
sidings alongside the station itself.
Services Typically the service is as followed;
- 1 tph to London Liverpool Street,
- 1 tph from Liverpool Street
During Morning Peak this is increased typical trains departing every 20 - 30 mins till 9 am between 6 and 7 there are typically 4tph
The last train Monday to Friday teminates at Colchester

Platforms
There are two platforms currently at Thorpe-Le-Soken. They are both situated on an island platform only accessible by a footbridge. There is a
clearly visible platform and trackbed on what would be platform 3. This is continuous with the stations on the Walton branch line, Kirby Cross,
Frinton and Walton. One of the double tracks that were originally on the line to Walton has been completely taken up.

Westbound
- 1tph to Liverpool Street
- 1tph to Colchester via Colchester Town
Eastbound
- 1tph to Clacton-on-sea
- 1tph To Walton-on-the-Naze
Interchanges at Thorpe are always with a same direction connection. For example if you leave a Clacton-bound train at Thorpe a
Walton-on-the-Naze Service is at platform 2. Waiting for a service to Colchester Town takes another half an hour and vice versa with the London
bound services, which is annoying when you want to get to Walton From Clacton

Service patterns
Generally, there is an hourly service to Colchester (North), calling at all stations on the line. On Sundays this service is reduced to a
shuttle to Thorpe-le-Soken (still calling at all stations). Passengers who wish to travel to London Liverpool Street should change at
Thorpe-le-Soken or Colchester. There is, however, one direct service between Walton-on-the-Naze and London Liverpool Street Typicaly the
17:45.
